(Geranium pratense x Geranium himalayense)
A relatively recent introduction from Australia. Low growing clumps of divided foliage and plentiful mid-blue flowers in early summer. An improvement on ‘Johnson’s Blue’. Average soil in sun. 30cm.
We have planted Geranium 'Criss Canning' close to Geranium 'Johnson's Blue' in the nursery display garden to give the opportunity to compare them easily and on an ongoing basis. After three years together it is apparent that 'Criss Canning' has a better habit, holding it's flowers up better, and that the flowers themselves are a cleaner blue. 'Criss Canning' does have the darker veins that Geranium 'Johnson's Blue' lacks so it may not always fit into your colour scheme.
Geranium 'Criss Canning' makes a good, low growing plant that fits into the front of a border well, mixing with other Geraniums and Ornamental Grasses with ease. The rich green foliage helps to show off the blue flowers well.
Raised by David Glenn at Lambley Nurseries, Victoria, Australia in 1997. It has come to us via the USA!
