(Geranium renardii x Geranium platypetalum)
Large deep blue flowers in late spring and early summer. Broad softly hairy leaves, deciduous. A recent hybrid already a classic. Average soil in sun. 45cm.
A good combination of masses of pretty flowers and neat mounds of attractive foliage make Geranium 'Philippe Vapelle' a good choice for a drained soil in full sun. Flowering starts in the second half of May most years and continues for 6-8 weeks, with some repeat later in the summer/autumn.
Lovely with Nepeta, Lavender, silver foliage and old pink roses in a cottage style garden! Easier and more effective in the garden than the blue forms of Geranium renardii which tend to be a bit weak and have poor flowering.
Raised by Ivan Louette in Belgium and named for a friend. The same cross was made by Alan Bremner which resulted in an identical plant which is also sold under this name.
