Alan Bremner’s hybrid is extremely floriferous with bright pink flowers. Named after the Orkney Isle his father came from. 15cm. PBR. Always looks more compact than other forms with slightly darker green, smaller, leaves.
The second variety of Geranium x cantabrigiense raised by Alan Bremner, the first was the white flowered 'St Ola'. A neater, tighter growing plant than the other forms of the hybrid with shorter stems but similar sized leaves and flowers. The leaves, stems and calyces often have a red tint which, combined with the deeper pink flowers, gives the plant a much warmer look than the other pink forms.
'Westray' also provides the same evergreen carpet as all other forms of Geranium x cantabrigiense but is slower growing so may not be so suitable if you need it to keep weeds out. Still, a very good plant for edging paths, driveways etc as well as growing under deciduous shrubs and trees.
Described in 2000, released in 2002.
