Rarely seen choice species with almost woolly foliage and spires of rich lavender blue-purple flowers to 60cm in summer. Drained soil in full sun.

Unfortunately this is one of those plants where many are mis-identified but we have the true plant at last!  Tight clumps of upright (more or less) stems from a rootstock with swollen storage tubers, it can't be propagated by the tubers.

Well behaved in the garden with an attractive habit and flowers a rare shade of rich but gentle blue-purple.  An ideal companion for many grasses and it works well with light yellow flowers such as Linaria dalmatica too.

Really good drainage is essential to keep it going, especially in winter.  Full sun helps too!

From Spain, Portugal and Sicily.
