Recommended Books

We would like to recommend these books to you if you are looking for further information about our plants or how to use them in the garden. These are all books that we have and use regularly!  The links will take you to www.amazon.co.uk where you may purchase them.

Hardy Geraniums
THE monograph (for gardeners and botanists), a useful pocket reference and a good recent book for gardeners.

Grasses etc.
Rick Darke has produced some stunning books, this is his recent tome on grasses. Piet Oudolf & Michael King’s book is a useful guide with a European perspective and Paul’s bamboo book is simply essential!

Perennials
Just a couple of examples of the monographs we use and a lovely and useful book from Dan Hinkley covering (amongst others) a lot of woodland/shade plants.

Design and Planting
These books by Beth Chatto are full of practical ideas and information on plants as well as being amongst the best written gardening books around!

Piet Oudolf is one of the best of todays designers producing natural looking gardens with a good balance of grasses and other herbaceous plants. These books also have good sections describing some of the best perennials and grasses for the garden.

A couple more worth a read;
