Large flowers of a light sky blue shaded mauve in late spring to midsummer, repeating later. Easy, in sun or light shade. 30cm.
A lovely form with pretty, lighter, flowers that stand out well against the mid-green foliage. Like other forms of Geranium himlayense, 'Irish Blue' makes a good mound of foliage with the flowers to about 30cm, ideal edging for borders or it also looks very good under shrub and hybrid tea roses.
'Irish Blue' tends not to be so quick growing as the deeper blue forms of the species so perhaps not so good as groundcover but it is very popular due to the different flower colour, matching nicely with silvery pink flowers and light yellows.
Found by Graham Stuart Thomas in Ireland in 1947.
