(Geranium psilostemon x G. sanguineum 'Minutum') Alan Bremner's improbable hybrid is rarely seen but makes a compact clump for the front of the border, rockery or scree. Bright green divided leaves and glowing purple-pink flowers in summer. 20cm.
I hesitated over the colour of the flower, it's probably the reddest flowered hardy Geranium we've grown.
One of the most compact Geranium sanguineum hybrids, like every hybrid involving this species it is much closer to it that the other parent. Low clumps or mounds of fresh leaves and almost lurid flowers from late spring onwards. In good soil that doesn't dry out (or get too wet) you can expect flowers to continue until mid autumn.
Alan Bremner, c. 1996.
