(Geranium psilostemon x Geranium sylvaticum 'Baker's Pink')

Brilliant recent hybrid by Cyril Foster. Large magenta flowers with black veins converging at the base. Average soil in sun or light shade. Flowers non-stop in summer and autumn to 60cm.

Geranium 'Red Admiral' is one of those plants with not quite believable colour flowers when you see a photograph, many people suspect the photo has been "doctored"!  However, you are left with the same impression when you see it in real life, and it's still present in your eyes even when you've walked away...

The general consensus is that it isn't red, but a particularly vicious shade of magenta and it looks different to other Geranium psilostemon hybrids as it has less black centre and veining.  The foliage is also closer to Geranium sylvaticum and the plant's size is also closer to the wood cranesbill.

Raised by Cyril Foster, Rothbury and introduced by Caforth Gardens in 1999.
