Quite large bright purple flowers, compact plant, small leaves. 15cm.  Drained soil in sun or light shade.

'Nyewood' is another of the first rate cultivars that are distinctive from most of the "rest" of the Geranium sanguineums.  Neat clumps that tend to be a bit more upright than some varieties while still being dense and bushy.  The flowers are of a decent size and a distinct saturated colour which stands out well over the light green leaves.

All the Bloody Cranesbills make good edging plants and compact ones like 'Nyewood' are suitable for larger rockeries too.  Flowering is at it's best from April to July and continues more sporadically until the autumn.  The cooler nights of October usually bring on good autumn foliage colour.

Name first published by Monksilver in 1994.

Syn. Geranium sanguineum 'Nyewood's Variety'.
