(Geranium peloponnesiacum x Geranium renardii)

A beautiful hybrid with textured leaves and clear, light blue flowers with darker veining in spring and early summer. Drained soil in full sun. 30cm. Easy and hardy.

Often overlooked because it has a fairly short flowering season (4-6weeks) but this beautiful hybrid is one we wouldn't want to be wthout.  Large, windmill-like, flowers in spring are an exquisite colour, the photo above doesn't do it justice!  Geranium 'Stephanie' doesn't make a big clump of leaves, instead you get the lovely felted leaves in small tufts where the numerous flower stems emerge.  Having one tuberous, deciduous parent and one evergreen one does give an interesting habit!

Found as a seedling labelled as Geranium peloponnesiacum in the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh. Described by Catforth Gardens in 1997. Unfortunately Geranium 'Stephanie' can still sometimes be found labelled as Geranium peloponnesiacum, they can be identified as the hybrid keeps it's leaves during the summer, the species dies down to it's tuberous rootstock by midsummer.
