An excellent, upright columnar form with fine foliage and masses of pinkish flowers that fade to a bright buff. 1.5m. Average to good soil in sun. Cut back in late winter/early spring.

Miscanthus sinensis 'Silberspinne' has been around for a while now but it's still a great plant making a billowing clump of it's narrow leaves topped with masses of silky flowers in late summer and autumn.  The flowers start a decent pinkish silver and fade to a gleaming silvery buff as they turn to seed.  As with many forms the habit is strictly upright when young but older plants will be more rounded, divide every 5 years or so to retain the columnar habit.

Delightful as a specimen plant amongst lower growing perennials or it also suits mass planting in a formal or informal fashion.  As with all Miscanthus a reasonable soil that does not dry out too much in full sun is best.  1.5m is typical.

Introduced by Ernst Pagels in Germany, 1987.
