Neat clumps of fine, bright green foliage and arching stems of long awned golden green flowers in summer. Drained soil in full sun. 30cm.

Closely related to the well known Stipa tenuissima (syn.: Nasella tenuissima) and does a similar job in the garden but has a little more texture to it!  As with all members of the family Nasella cernua isn't very long lived so allow a few seedlings as the original plant will be fading by 3-4 years old in most cases.

From California in the USA where it grows a lot bigger than it does here in Norfolk...

Syn. Stipa cernua.
