Lush clumps of rich green leaves make an attractive arching mound and produce blackish bottlebrush flowers in autumn. 70cm. Good soil in sun. Needs a warm site to flower well in the UK.

Because of the late flowering this does not self seed in the UK despite what you may read in some books.  In fact, unless you have a sheltered, warm garden and we have a decent summer you may not get flowers at all!

Having said that, when it does flower it can be truly spectacular and there is nothing else quite like it with masses of fluffy flowers on upright arching stems above the mound of foliage.
