AGM. An impressive modern American selection makes clumps of bright green arching leaves and masses of upright dark reddish bottlebrush-like flowers to 75cm in autumn. Sun, good soil.

Earlier flowering than many other selections of Pennisetum alopecuroides, 'Red Head' produces more flowers too.  Large chunky flower spikes make an impressive show from very late summer until the first frosts, followed by seedheads that last most of the winter.

Selected by Brent Horvath in Illinois.
