Clumps of hairy leaves and masses of deep blue-purple flowers with darker veins in May-June. Average soil in sun. 45cm.

This more recent selection of Geranium x magnificum makes slightly more compact clumps than the older forms, to 45cm.  Another useful dense, clump former for a herbaceous border, short enough to make a good edging plant for borders with big perennials in.  The slightly felted foliage makes a good contrast for the rich purplish blue flowers which are produced en masse in May and June.

The foliage usually turns shades of orange and red in the autumn as it starts to die down for the winter.  Although it is deciduous it still has an obvious clump so is still easy to see.  For ordinary, drained soil in full sun.

Raised by Hans Simon in Germany.

Syn. Geranium x magnificum 'Rosemore' and 'Rosenmoor'.
