Western wild ginger. Slowly spreading patches of rounded heart-shaped leaves and amazing three-pointed maroon red flowers in spring. Shade, 15cm.

Usually deciduous Asarum caudatum can keep some or all of it's leaves in a sheltered spot, maybe under deciduous trees or shrubs.  Native to north American woodland.
