Bright cream variegated evergreen foliage and sprays of small yellow flowers in summer on this cottage garden favourite. Sun or part shade, drained soil. 50cm.

It's tempting to call it short lived (some even say biennial) but in reality it usually persists for several years and produces a few seedlings in bare spots or the cracks in paths nearby.  A welcome little coloniser rather than a thug!

Variously known as rock cress, land cress, American cress and a whole host of other common names the green form is native to Europe, Asian and northern Africa.  A peppery alternative to water cress.

Syn. Barbarea vulgaris 'Winter Cream'.
