Similar to the common C. pentaphylla but with 7 leaflets! Low growing spring flowering woodlander with showy white flowers to 25cm. Slowly spreading clumps for good soil in part shade or shade.
A lovely companion plant to Pulmonaria, Erythronium, primroses etc in a spring border that gets shaded later on in the summer as overhead trees or shrubs leaf up. Appreciating a moist soil, in spring at least, it will tolerate droughts once it has gone dormant in the second half of the year.
Sometimes mis-identified in cultivation as various other species.
From higer altitude woodland in central and western Europe.
Syn. Dentaria pinnata.
