Beautiful pale blue bells with darker veining on somewhat scrambling stems to 40cm. Greyish foliage. The inside of the flowers marked with purple rings and orange centres! Drained soil in sun.
From tuberous (carrot-like) roots Codonopsis clematidea emerges in the spring with slightly hairy greyish foliage and the flowers start to appear from May. Compact if grown in an open position but it will scramble over neighboring plants if given the chance, not that it will be a problem.
From Central Asia to the western Himalaya.
Commonly known as Bonnet Bellflower, unfortunately Codonopsis clematidea if frequently distributed under the wrong name but it's an excellent garden plant.
