Spreading patches of willowy, dark brown stems topped with sprays of rich light purple flowers with golden centres in late summer. Ordinary soil, 30cm. Excellent and useful addition to the border.
One of our favourite features of many asters is the attractive seedheads in autumn. 'August Sky' has dense heads of golden fluff from October that are held well into winter.
'August Sky' may not be that different from the normal species, Eurybia radula, but whichever you choose they are both super plants for the front of the border where you want some space filling. Eurybia radula does spread but not too rapidly, our 'August Sky' has got to about 1m spread in 5 years.
Best in a sunny position in soil that doesn't get too wet.
Syn. Aster radula 'August Sky'
