Clumps of greyish green leaves produce masses of more or less double tangerine orange flowers on wiry stems to 60cm. Ordinary soil in sun or light shade.
Perennial clumps flower over a long season and make ideal companions for many of the low and medium sized ornamental grasses such as Briza, Eragrostis and Stipa.
The naming is confused and this (or a near identical plant) can be found labelled as Papaver atlanticum 'Flore Pleno', it appears that the two plants are hopelesly muddled in gardens! Papaver rupifragum is from Spain, Papaver atlanticum from Morocco.
Syn. Papaver rupifragrum 'Flore Pleno', Papaver rupifragum 'Orange Feathers', Papaver rupifragum 'Double Tangerine Gem'.
