Bizarre creamy yellow random variegated foliage on this ornamental Chinese Lantern. Even the fruit pods are variegated before turning orange-red. 45cm.

Small white flowers are produced in summer followed by the inflated pods containing the (not-edible) berries.  The variegated foliage adds to the season of interest compared to the plain green form.

A spreading patch forming plant, Physalis alkekengi var. franchetii 'Variegata' can be grown amongst other robust plants where the stems can appear randomly between it's neighbours.
