AGM One of the best blue flowered forms with the rich, royal blue flowers shown off to good effect by the clumps of deep green leaves. Usually deciduous. 20cm. Good soil in part shade or shade.
It may be an older variety but Pulmonaria 'Blue Ensign' still outperforms many of the newer varieties. Good clumps of broad, hairy, leaves and lots of decent sized cheerful flowers in early to mid spring.
Best in a decent soil that doesn't dry out too much, in sun in winter and spring but with a little shade during the summer. Underneath deciduous trees or shrubs with a light canopy like silver birch would be ideal.
A seedling in Bowles' Corner at the RHS Garden Wisley and introduced by Monksilver in the early 1990s.
