A special form we have grown for many years with brilliant scarlet flowers, dark stems and small shiny leaves. Shrubby habit, for a well drained sheltered spot. More or less hardy. 60cm.
Although this is no longer a valid name we retain it for this plant as it is distinct from Salvia microphylla var. microphylla with smaller, more elegant leaves and flowers than the plants normally grown under that name.
We have had this since the mid 1980s, though the very cold winter of 2011-12 did kill it, we were lucky to be able to get it back!
