No, it's not from Peru! Mediterranean actually. Broad leafy clumps and large, rounded heads of intense blue starry flowers in spring. Drained soil in full sun for the best flowers. 30cm. Nearly evergreen.

Typical of plants from the area, this appreciates the sort of summer baking that you imagine a Mediterranean climate will give.  The best plants I've seen in Norfolk were growing at the base of a south facing wall.

Late frosts can damage the foliage but rarely cause any long term harm.
