Pretty silvery blue flowers of a decent size on strong stems to 1.5m. A good, earlier flowering species, August into late autumn, well worth trying in good soil in sun.

Commonly called the Swamp Aster in it's native eastern north America and it seems to prefer damp soil but we've found it quite happy in ordinary garden soil as long as it mdoesn't dry out too much.

Easy and very hardy.

Syn. Aster puniceum.
