Stunning orange and red flowers with frilly edges on this tuberous, climbing perennial species. Summer and autumn flowering to 1.8m+. Collected in Ecuador.
Tropaeolum smithii looks fragile with it's thin stems and delicate divided leaves but it's proving to be a tough and reliable perennial here. As yet untested for hardiness but I suspect it'll be fine with a sheltered sunny position and a deep mulch. Evergreen to 4deg Celsius.
Collected in Ecuador by Michael Wickenden.
