An old favourite and very reliable perennial mullein with rosettes of dark green leaves and spires of white flowers with purple fluffy middles! Repeat flowering from May to the frosts. 70cm. Drained soil in sun.
Ideal for those who struggle to keep Verbascum going in the garden this tough perennial species will survive in most sunny (or even part shady) positions as long as the soil is not waterlogged for any length of time. We have had plants exceed 10 years with no problems.
A tidy grower with deep green, almost glossy, leaves making nearly flat rosettes and strong stems with long spires bearing masses of flowers. Young plants soon bulk up and by the 3rd year in the garden should produce many spikes of flower during a long season. Spent stems can be cut out low down to encourage more.
Best in a drained but not excessively dry soil in full sun but it is tolerant of a wide range of positions. Typically to c. 70cm but very well grown plants may reach 1m.
