Neat little clumps of glossy green leaves and cheerful, bright yellow flowers in late winter and throughout spring into early summer.  An excellent addition to a woodland border. Shade, ordinary soil, 10cm.

Another one of those plants that isn't well known or widely grown but is well worth trying and is fairly easy and trouble free.

Makes a small colony of self-sown plants but doesn't cause any trouble as the plants are so small - and it's very easy to pull if it does land somewhere it isn't wanted.  A lovely ephemeral to grow with spring flowering woodlanders like Pulmonaria and Primroses.

Native to much of the northern hemisphere!
