Lovely tall, branched stems bear masses of light pink flowers from summer into autumn. Airy and elegant but tougher and easier than A. cannabina. 2.4m, sun or light shade and ordinary soil.
Sometimes miss-sold as Althaea cannabina, this species is probably the better one for many gardens as it's easier to propagate and quicker to make a good clump. Tending to be longer lived as well.
Largely upright in growth but it can arch and flop if overfed or overshadowed too much so best in an open sunny spot where it's airy habit can be enjoyed. Very hardy.
From the Caucasus and surrounding area.
Syn. Althaea brousonettifolia.
Althaea cannabina£5.00

Althaea officinalis£5.00
Marshmallow. Clumps of upright stems clad with grayish leaves and topped with spires of palest pink flowers with darker middles in summer. 2.4m.
