AGM An attractive clump forming grass from south America with rich green, narrow, leaves and arching stems holding clusters of red-tinted flowers all summer. Drained soil in sun. 60cm.

A dainty but fairly tough plant ideal for gravel gardens or larger rockeries, although it gets to a fair height the clumps are not substantial and will tend to live for 3-4 years before expiring.  With luck it will self-seed for you but it is easy enough to store some seed to start it off again if the plants reach the end of thier lives.

Only named in 1990 so pretty new to cultivation. It has managed to escape into the wild in Australia where it's being a bit of a weed but the UK isn't going to be warm and dry enough for that to be likely.

South America.
