A cracking, clump-forming, poppy relative for shade with masses of generous yellow flowers in spring and summer. Easy, hardy and well behaved. 40cm.

Not to be confused with the rather thuggish Chelidonium majus which is superficially similar.

Stylophorum lasiocarpum makes rosette like clumps of it's bluish-green leaves which are more or less pinnate from early spring with the flowers starting to appear in May and continuing throughout summer given decent conditions.  Ideally it will be planted in a good soil that doesn't dry out in at least part shade but it is tolerant of quite dry soil in shade.

The large, mid-yellow, flowers make a good show (unlike the small flowered Chelidonium) and are followed by tapering, upright, seedpods.

From China.
