Mexican Poppy. Short lived or annual prickly poppy with greyish foliage and large pale creamy yellow flowers in summer. Dry, sunny site, to 45cm. Potentially invasive in warm climates (not UK!).
Behaving as a half-hardy, annual or short lived perennial here, Argemone ochroleuca has beautiful creamy yellow flowers that blend with most other colours. Easy to raise from seed to flower in it's first year if you loose the plants overwinter but it should self-seed in a gravel garden fairly successfully without being a problem in the UK.
Native to Mexico, widely naturalised in warm temperate and tropical regions.
