Light pink flowers, very floriferous. Good evergreen groundcover. 30cm.
The natural thing to do when you get a new plant is to compare it to the similar varieties already in your collection and we did this with Geranium macrorrhizum 'Cham-Ce' quite a bit! It is quite close to the older 'Ingwersen's Variety' and the newer 'Freundorf' but seems to us to have a cleaner pink flower, possibly a little larger than either of the others. Certainly 'Cham-Ce' makes an effective evergreen groundcover in some quite difficult places, particularly in drier shady spots.
Like many of the evergreen forms of Geranium macrorrhizum, 'Cham-Ce' will provide good autumnal foliage colour that persists throughout winter until the new, green, foliage in spring overtakes the previous years growth. This is also the time that the flowers are produced so they have a nice, fresh, green foil in mid spring to early summer. The foliage to c. 20cm and the flowers to 30cm.
Tolerant of a wide range of conditions from full sun to quite a bit of shade and good, rich soil to quite poor. Just bear in mind that the size of the plant will change according to the amount of moisture, light and food it gets, the better you look after it the larger it will be.
The origins seem a bit lost but it was first introduced as Geranium macrorrhizum 'Camce'. Listed by Hans Simon in Germany in 1997.
