Neat clumps of glossy green, ribbon-like, leaves will produce arching stems of fine flowers from midsummer to 60cm. Best in at least some shade.
One of just four species in this small genus, Diarrhena japonica is a classy ornamental grass that provides a largely evergreen foliage plant with the bonus of the airy flowers in the second half of the year. Deciduous in exposed sites and colder winters.
