A dwarf form of one of the common American solomon's seals. Slightly pleated green leaves and clusters of cream bells with jade green tips. Scented. Decent soil in shade.  40cm.

This dwarf form of Polygonatum biflorum is just like the taller common solomon's seals except that everything is compacted into a plant about half the height without being miniaturised.  So, it has normal sized mid green leaves with gentle pleats that show off the creamy white flowers that hang in clusters under the arching stems.

On a warm day the scent is quite sweet - though you may have to bend down for it!  Blue-black berries follow later in the summer.

As with most Polygonatum, best grown in good soil under deciduous trees or shrubs so that it gets plenty of moisture in winter but can dry out and get shaded in summer.  Equally at home on the north side of a wall, fence or house etc.

From the east of North America, growing in deciduous woodland.
