The first form of this hybrid described, from Cambridge UBG. Low, evergreen, carpets of neat foliage and mid-pink flowers to 15-20cm in spring and early summer. Ordinary soil in sun or light shade.

One of the very first Geraniums we started with well before the nursery was opened in the 1980s so this has a special place here - even if it has been superceeded by newer varieties a bit!

Low mats of evergreen leaves, fresh green when new and turning a variety of autumnal shades by late summer and looking even better during the winter.  The (slightly mauve) pink flowers are preduced enne masse from April to late June depending on the weather and usually last for several weeks.  As with most forms of Geranium x cantabrigiense, the buds and calyces are a rich red and persist after flowering to extend the season of interest.

Easy and hardy, even the coldest winters do little damage to the leaves.  Ideal for groundcover under shrubs, particularly roses to prevent you getting scratched and stabbed when weeding!  Happy in sun, part shade or light shade in a variety of soils but it will flower best in good soil in sun.  Avoid wet places.

Raised at Cambridge University Botanic Garden in 1974, name first published in 1989 by Axletree Nursery (now defunct).

Most plants that are sold simply as "Geranium x cantabrigiense" seem to be this form.
