Loose clumps of upright stems with relatively broad greyish leaves and mad plumes of cream flowers that arch and curl to one side in summer. Drained soil in full sun. 90cm.
Not one of the hardiest ornamental grasses but we find that it gets through most winters as long as it isn't in too wet a soil. In 2012 when we did loose all our plants to the cold we then found a couple of seedlings that came up in a path and got us going again!
A lovely mixer with perennials that like drier soils in full sun, such as Achillea, Eryngium and Verbena. If you are lucky it will self-seed a little and naturalise itself amongst flowering plants that might be doing the same.
From Asia, but widely naturalised elsewhere. Our form was collected in Equador!
