Brilliant little hummocks of deep green curled leaves will spread in time to form a low evergreen groundcover. Pretty spring flowers. Good soil in shade ideally. 15cm.
One of those plants that seems like it should be much more widely planted than it is. Evergreen, hardy, neat and tidy - what more could you want?! I'd say that it is better suited to Japanese style gardens than the often requested Ophiopogon japonicus which is slow and unpredicatable.
Igel = Hedghog in German reflecting the shape of the clumps.
