An older form with masses of good sized lavender blue flowers to 20cm in spring. Reasonable soil in shade or part shade.
If you were looking for a blue wood anemone in the 1980s the chances are you would find 'Allenii' or 'Robinsoniana'. Now there are lots of different shade and sizes of blue Anemone nemorosa available but those two older ones are still worth growing - I can't really tell them apart though!
An excellent choice for a spring border that gets light and moisture during the winter but may get shaded by shrubs or trees in summer and dries out at that time. A good companion for primroses and hellebores.
