A recent selection of this natural hybrid with larger flowers of a gentle creamy yellow in March and April. Dark foliage. Good, leafy soil in part or light shade. 15cm.
There are numerous older cultivars of this hybrid between Anemone nemorosa and A. ranunculoides but they are all pretty much the same. We now have some newer forms that are a bit different and 'Sioux' is certainly distinct. The foliage starts darker and really shows up the slightly buff-yellow flowers very nicely.
Anemone ranunculoides seems to prefer slightly sunnier and drier conditions than A. nemorosa and this trait is carried over to A. x lipsiensis which does best here under the south side of deciduous trees or shrubs where it gets a bit of summer warmth but still plenty of moisture in the winter.
