Large sprays of tiny white flowers with a delightful scent in late summer and autumn on this unusual species. Divided deep green leaves. 3m. Sheltered site.
Clematis flammula is a perfect example of the individual flower being fairly insignificant but the whole display (particularly it's perfume) being quite superb. Although happy climbing it can also be allowed to sprawl amongst perennials and shrubs to great effect.
Native to southern Europe, north Africa and parts of the middle east.
