Spectacular clumps of arching flower stems from June are at their best in the autumn when they change from green to brilliant golden orange. Best in good soil in full sun. 2m.
One of our favourites, 'Zuneigung' makes a clumps of mid-light green leaves to 50cm high and almost as much across with masses of arching flower stems produced from mid June. The flowers start a green-brown and are branched but heavy in appearance. This is a good variety of Purple Moor Grass to use as a single specimen plant in a mixed border as it's arching, fountain of flower stems look best without the competition of multiple plants.
Molinia caerulea ssp. arundinacea 'Zuneigung' has exceptional autumn foliage, stem and seedhead colour. From late October the green is lost and shades of orange, golden yellow and tawny buff take over. It really stands out in the low, afternoon, autumn sun.
'Zuneigung' has also proven to be quite resistant to drying out once established and can still put on a good show after a dry summer. It will take about 3 seasons for a Molinia to get it's roots established enough to do this.
