A striking golden variegated sport of 'Karl Foerster' from the USA.  Yellow striped leaves and golden stems with the usual purple-ish flower in May and June, tawny seedheads until late winter. Good soil in sun, 1.5m.

The yellow variegated foliage is at it's best from February until the flowers are fully out in June when the interest is taken by the richly coloured stems and sterile flower heads themselves.  As with other Calamagrostis x acutiflora forms the seedheads are retained through most of the winter and survive wind and snow.

Ideally grown surrounded by low growing plants like geraniums and summer flowering herbaceous salvias so that the upright column shape can be seen.

Found in 2000 at Garden Gate in Washington, USA.
