(syn. Iris latifolia). A lovely deep blue form of this bulbous species originally from seed collected in the Pyrenees. Drained but good soil in sun. 60cm.

A wild type of the "English Iris" that isn't English at all! Native to France and Spain (mostly in the Pyrenees) it was introduced to the bulb growers of the Netherlands from England hence the common name.

Many synonyms including the name it is most commonly still called: Iris latifolia.  Also sometimes seen as Iris xiphioides and Xiphion latifolium.
