Glistening white flowers with a darker purplish centre on strong pale green stems to 60cm. Bulbous perennial for well drained soil in full sun or grow in a pot and overwinter inside.
Many people find that Eucomis are fine to grow in the garden all year round and the success of this is likely more dependant on drainage than temperature, so somewhere with very good drainage in full sun should be fine.
If growing in a container take it inside a frost-free place in early winter when the leaves have just died off and keep dry until mid-late spring. Slowly increase water and move outside hardening off until in full gorwth by early June.
From the Cornwood Estate in Devon.
