Just about the last "aster" to flower here well into November. Masses of relatively large lavender blue flowers on branched stems up to 1.5m. Average soil in sun.

A lovely big bushy plant that gives a billowing sense of informality to the very late flowering border. Ideal with the big Eupatorium or Miscanthus, or perhaps some autumn foliage shrubs.

As with most of the autumn flowering asters 'Novemberblau' can be "Chelsea-chopped" in late May or June to reduce the height and increease the number of flowering stems.  This will have the effect of keeping the flower stems more upright and delaying flowering a couple of weeks.

Formerly Aster laevis 'Novemberblau'.
